The [humming]bird project

This project adopted a bird, native to Montrose point, Chicago, IL, as the driving factor for project production. After researching every aspect of the hummingbird, an “everything drawing” was developed to cover every aspect of the bird. The nest of this bird was modeled as a garment as a result of the architectural properties of a real hummingbird nest. This concept was then translated into a conceptual iteration for a pavilion design responding to the specific social and physical conditions of the site.
